Lisa Liu is a violinist, composer, conductor, orchestral contractor, producer, and entrepreneur. Inspired by her mother, a professional opera singer, she pursued her passion for music at The Juilliard School in New York for nine years, earning a Pre-College Diploma, Bachelor’s, and Master’s degrees in violin performance under renowned pedagogue Dorothy DeLay.
Liu’s versatile career spans musical genres, establishing her as a sought-after concertmaster, soloist, and collaborator. She has recorded on hundreds of film scores, including Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker, The Greatest Showman, La La Land, and Speak No Evil, and contributed to TV shows like America’s Got Talent, Dexter, Presumed Innocent, Reacher, Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, The Simpsons, Family Guy, and Homecoming. Her onscreen work includes appearing as a violinist for A Star Is Born, The Voice, American Idol, X-Factor, and Dancing with the Stars. As an orchestral contractor, she has led ensembles for artists like Duran Duran, Gorillaz, and the Zelda Symphony at venues such as Coachella and The Hollywood Bowl. In 2024, she toured with ODESZA, performing at Madison Square Garden and The Gorge, and joined the orchestra for Adele’s Weekends with Adele residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Liu co-produced a benefit concert honoring cellist Lynn Harrell, featuring legendary film composer John Williams and iconic violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter.
Liu’s leadership and vision have advanced orchestral collaboration, contributing significantly to the music industry. She co-founded the Unison Orchestra, an industry-first global collective that pioneered remote recording to connect elite musicians during the COVID-19 pandemic, gaining attention in industry publications like The Hollywood Reporter for its work on Lovecraft Country. Through L.A. Orchband, Liu leads a Hollywood-based orchestra, contracting musicians for film, television, video games, and sound recordings on major soundstages and at venues like the Hollywood Bowl. Her Los Angeles Conducting Co-op, featured in the LA Times, exemplifies her commitment to reimagining orchestral models and serving the music community.
